We stayed for almost a week in the apartment and it was great!! Our group included 2 seniors, 2 adults and 2 teens. It was a perfect base for our visit to Tokyo. The apartment is very close to the Nakano station and to many different restaurants and a supermarket. We bought fresh bread from a couple of excellent nearby bakeries. We had the "Japanese" living experience that we were looking for and you cannot get when staying in a hotel. We dined and shopped where the locals do and had a great time. The apartment was very comfortable, clean and well maintained and we highly recommend it. (B.)

We stayed in the 1 bedroom twin apartment in Nakano in January 2012 and it was a lovely apartment. Makoto was a lovely and funny host and he made sure we know where everything is to settle in. The area Nakano is lovely, short train ride from Shinjuku, plenty of shops and restaurants around the station and the apartment is only a 5 minute walk from the station! The apartment have all amenities just like your own home! We will definitely stay at the same place again. (A. & B.)

We stayed at the Nishi Ogikubo apartment
in early May. I shared the studio
apartment with my brother and our
experience was wonderful. The apartment
is right near the Nishi Ogikubo
(NishiOgi) station (less than 2 minute
walk), a variety of restaurants and and
an excellent grocery store.
The apartment itself was nice. It has a
a landing area (take off your shoes!), a
kitchen, and a studio style bed/living
room. The bathroom is divided into two
parts... the shower/bathtub area and the
toilet room with sink and vanity. This
setup is great when sharing the
apartment. Having a full kitchen and
refrigerator was nice as we did prepare
our own breakfast and a few dinners.
Also great for chilling the beer.
The bed was comfortable as was the small
futon.
Makoto met us at the exit of the train
station promptly and guided us right to
the apartment. He was incredibly
friendly and helpful (He speaks great
English in case that's important to you
like it was for us). When it was time to
depart, he helped us find negotiate our
way back to Narita (via Shinjuku- the
busiest station in the world). He's
incredibly knowledgeable and is eager to
help so if you have any questions, ask.
We needed more bedding and he dropped by
the same day to bring it to us.
The neighborhood itself is wonderful. A
far cry from the business districts of
Tokyo, but still vibrant and active.
Also very well connected (we used Tokyo
as a base for trips to Nikko, Narai and
the Kiso Valley, Matsumoto, Nagano, and
Mt. Fujii and the apartment was
perfectly located).
I'd highly recommend staying here over a
hotel. Not only is it comparably priced
(we felt we got more for the money in
Nishi Ogikubo), but you have a lot more
room and flexibility. Most importantly,
it's a chance to experience what living
in Japan is really like. For two guys
from Boston who had never been to Japan
before, it was perfect. I highly
recommend the apartment as everything
from the service to the to the living
space were outstanding.
I've left my email visible so if you'd
like to email a past guest with any
questions, feel free. (J.)

This was the best value of our trip compared to the cost of hotels. Our family of 4, including 14 and 10 year old boys stayed here for 10 days along with another family. It was perfect because they own the building and rent out several of the apartments for vacation rentals. Makoto-san was extremely helpful and very funny. We also rented our cell phones from him which was convenient. We took advantage of the luggage service to and from the airport. I loved that the 24 hour Seiyu market was literally right around the corner from the apartment and when we first arrived - we woke up at 4:30am and was able to go to Seiyu and get breakfast. The train station was a walk through Seiyu. It was nice to come home to a quiet neighborhood after a day of being in the crowded city. My kids were happy that there was a McDonalds and 7-11 within walking distance. Overall - I would absolutely stay here again! (hvcc)
