NOZAWA ONSEN
Nozawa Onsen is a quaint mountain village north of Nagano City with a hot spring that according to legend dates back to the 8th Century. The village centre is a collection of ryokans (Japanese traditional hotels), minshuku (Japanese-style inns) and souvenir shops congregated on the slope at the base of the Nozawa ski resort. The hot spring mineral water in Nozawa is unrivalled, with over 30 natural springs supplying the ryokans and also 13 public baths. Of these, Oyu (hot water), with its traditional wooden architecture, represents the best of Nagano’s onsen culture. Also distinctive of Nozawa Onsen is the “Ogama” spring where locals go to cook vegetables in the hot onsen water.
Home to some of the events of the 1998 Winter Olympics, Nozawa Onsen is one of the top Japanese ski resorts with an amazing lift system, endless powder snow and small crowds; it is perfect for all levels of skiers and boarders.

From Tokyo to Togari Nozawa Onsen station:
By Shinkansen (40 min): Tokyo station --> Nagano station (Asama)
Transfer to JR Iiyama line

Arguably set
in the best position in the Village, Nozawa House sleeps 8 and is a fully self
contained right in the middle of the snow. It’s ski in and ski out but still only a short stroll to the heart of the village.
All this and with no immediate neighbors means you’ll enjoy a private, tranquil holiday escape. Magnificent views out to the forest, ski lifts and across the valley and village.
3 Bedrooms Sleeps 8
The beautiful, self-contained Nozawa House house is made up of three bedrooms, and can comfortably sleep 8 people in a blend of Western and Japanese style.
* One bedroom has a double bed,
* One has two bunk beds, and
* One room is Japanese style with Futons for bedding.
Well equipped, the house has two Western style toilets (one on the ground floor, one on the second) with wash basins and a shower room with a big bath that looks out over the stream below.
The kitchen has everything you need, with a fridge, microwave, gas stove, and more.
The open dining area allows you to enjoy your home-cooked meals while you gaze out over the village and valley below. |

a minimum stay for Nozawa House?
Yes, most of our prices are based on a minimum 6 night stay.
As you might appreciate, the costs of cleaning up after shorter stays makes it very difficult to accommodate short stay guests in the Cottage.
* How many does the House sleep?
The House sleeps a maximum of 8 (9 at a squeeze) people.
It’s a very comfortable house with a blend of Western and Japanese style bedding.
* How far from the slopes is the House?
It’s perfect!
You’re right on the slopes and can literally ski in and ski out.
* How far to the centre of town?
The centre of town is just a short walk (about 300 metres) away - there are many terrific restaurants scattered throughout the town so you’re never too far away.

Nozawa Cottage is a self-contained cottage, right by the main gondola of Nozawa Onsen. Depending on what you’re looking for, Nozawa Cottage might be in the perfect position for you. Set right across the road from the slopes, it’s only 150 meters to the main Nagasaka Gondola!
You can kick back in the living room and watch people gliding down the powder on one of Nozawa’s steepest runs, catch the ski jumpers on the Olympic Jump Course, or watch the kids slide past the door.
Nozawa Cottage had a pretty unique layout. The building is shaped like a triangle, and we fully renovated the inside just this year with a contemporary feel.
Comfortable For 6, But Can Sleep Up To 8
There are two main bedrooms, plus two small sleeping areas:
* The bunk sleeps 4 in comfort
* The main bedroom sleeps 2 in style
* There is then a Tatami room which can be used as a room for small children or a sitting room for the main bedroom
* There is also a loft upstairs for the young or young at heart with a semi double bed and awesome views to wake up to
